Netuya was a 23rd century Garda man native to the planet Bira III who came to lead the Garda civilization.

History[]

In 2266, Netuya agreed to peace talks with warring Stoyak overseen by a landing party from the starship USS Enterprise. He met Spock and Montgomery Scott upon their arrival in the homeland of the Garda. The group was suddenly ambushed by Stoyak aircars and captured by soldiers led by Colonel Knarg.

After Spock's intelligence was unintentionally reduced by a brain device, he was imprisoned a cell with Netuya. They managed to escape the prison and flee into the jungle. They came across a lion-like mossek and Spock was able to knock it out single-handedly. Netuya proclaimed him Ibar the Magnificent and made him their new leader.

A fleet of aircars soon approached to destroy the Garda, and Netuya prepared at Spock's order to concentrate their telekinetic defense. Following a duel to the death between Spock and an altered Montgomery Scott that ended peacefully, Netuya ordered his tribesmen to attack, but his advisor counseled following the example of the combatants, and he agreed that they should renew peace talks.
