New Bajor was a Bajoran colony established in 2370 in the Gamma Quadrant. The capital city is known as New Rakantha. Following the Third Republic of Bajor's membership in the United Federation of Planets, it too joined the Federation.

New Bajor orbited a G class star. (ST reference: Star Charts)

History[]

Before entering the Gamma Quadrant through the Bajoran wormhole, the colonists were brought to Deep Space 9. Among the crewmembers serving on one of the ships undertaking the journey was Cenn Desca, whose ship later returned to Bajor. Several other ships were leaving for the planet for several more weeks. (DS9 novel: Bajor: Fragments and Omens, DS9 episode: "The Jem'Hadar")

A monk's retreat on the planet was built in the Jarrovian style. (DS9 - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The Second Artifact)

Julian Bashir and Kira Nerys later helped to bring the hospital facility online. (DS9 episode: "Crossover")

The colony was later visited by the USS Rio Grande and later the USS Odyssey, with both ships delivering supplies. (DS9 - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The Second Artifact)

Several weeks later, the Dominion sent the Jem'Hadar to the planet. They slaughtered the inhabitants, although the Bajorans fought valiantly. The attack was a signal to the Alpha Quadrant powers that the Dominion would no longer tolerate ships from the Alpha side entering the Gamma Quadrant. Talak'talan later brought news of the colonies destruction to DS9, where he gave the crew a list of the ships destroyed by them on a Bajoran PADD from the colony. (DS9 episode: "The Jem'Hadar") Kira remembered this incident when she encountered Kitana'klan for the first time. (DS9 - Avatar novel: Book One)

Among those killed were Lubaar Falor and Lubaar Ren. (DS9 short story: "The Manhunt Pool")

In Borath's simulation, Benjamin Sisko, who was angered that Borath said the destruction of the Odyssey was regrettable without remorse, mentioned the massacre on New Bajor as well. (DS9 novelization: The Search)

The Dominion later stationed soldiers there in preparation for the coming conflict, building several buildings for the troops. They had left by 2376. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)

In 2373, Elim Garak tried to persuade Benjamin Sisko to allow him to make a journey to find the origin of Enabran Tain's distress signal by saying they may find survivors of New Bajor as well. (DS9 episode: "In Purgatory's Shadow")

In 2376, Jake Sisko and the crew of the Even Odds visited the planet, although they were initially unaware of where they were. Jake realized after seeing the Kava and Katterpods growing. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)

Resettlement of New Bajor began later that year. (ST reference: Star Charts)

In 2409, the freighter SS Batris was en route to New Bajor when it was attacked by the True Way in the Algira system. (STO mission: "Forging Bonds")

Apocrypha[]

The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon, published by Last Unicorn Games after they had lost their Star Trek license, cites New Bajor as being the third planet of the Kotha Tremali system.
