Nith was a Ferengi man who became a custodian for the office of Grand Nagus in the 2350s decade. During his term as leader to the Ferengi Alliance, the economic situation on Ferenginar fell into a crisis that became known as the Great Monetary Collapse, where Nith made a failed attempt to rescue the planet from financial ruin, which sparked widespread inflation that devaluated latinum.

Biography[]

A Ferengi man that underwent a career inside the state affairs of their homeworld, Nith later elevated to become the Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance, which fell beneath his governance after space exploration brought prospectors to the planet Kritis Major III. Having deduced this world had the potential to become a breadbasket after deductions predicted that it was rich with precious metals, including latinum, a consortium of backers proceeded to auction contracts over the Ferenginar Futures Exchange against the natural wealth and the shares that were generated from these ventures. However, the reviews made about the latinum reserves on Kritis Major proved rudimental to the point of nonexistence, which rendered the arrangements made around these assumptions as worthless. Within a night, confidence in both the Stock and Future Exchanges plummeted. In answer, Nith tried to amend the loss of the stokeholds and funnelled vast amounts into the economy, but found that this triggered rising costs, leaving the value of gold-pressed latinum devalued, depleting the assets of his constituents as a result. As a result, the financial situation on Ferenginar was brought to a sudden halt that consumed the next two decades, which was remembered as the Great Monetary Collapse.
