The noggik tree was a fruit-bearing plant native to the planet Mestiko, noted for their fragrant wood and gnarled branches.

History and specifics[]

Noggik trees were revered in much of Payav society as a symbol of the diversity and plenty of life. Noggik trees stood in the courtyard of the Larendan Convocation grounds. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: Things Fall Apart)

Mestiko's noggik trees were destroyed by "The Pulse" in 2265, and its aftereffects. Dr. Cart etDeja was able to genetically engineer a new variety of noggik tree to reforest Mestiko, though the new trees bore little resemblance to the natural plants.

In 2267, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu was able to grow a noggik seedling, which Captain James T. Kirk presented as a gift to Payav leader Raya elMora. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Centre Cannot Hold) Unfortunately, this tree began to show signs of ill health in 2291 and died. In 2293, however, noggik tree seeds, which had been buried and dormant since before the Pulse, were unearthed by a construction project in the Ayanava Province and discovered by a young boy named Chimeji elPrahno.
