Nome is a small community located on Earth, in the United States of America. Part of the state of Alaska, the town is located in the Seward Peninsula coast of Norton Sound.
In 1986, a tracking station in Nome tracked the HMS Bounty after it had decloaked in the Bering Sea. Considered a UFO by the Americans, the vessel soon left the atmosphere. (Novelization of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home).
