The Noyrit was an Ithenite freighter starship in service in the mid-22nd century. The ship had a crew of more than a dozen. Its commanding officer was Captain Garet Kadlin. During the Mute Crisis, the Noyrit and its crew became the victims of a Vertian sample-collect mission. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)

On March 24, 2163, Starfleet Admiral William Gardner reported the loss of an Ithenite cargo ship to President Thomas Vanderbilt. The Mute task force subsequently combed the area but was unable to find a trace of the Ithenite ship.

The Noyrit had been captured by the Vertians, who were unaware that humanoids were sentient lifeforms. The Vertians brought the Noyrit's crew to their homeworld, Gamma Vertis IV, and experimented on them. The Ithenites were stripped nude but fashioned loincloths from bedsheets. The males had grown hirsute and bearded during their captivity. In what Kadlin considered torture, three members of his crew were killed, and four more crippled.

In early to mid-April, Kadlin and the dozen survivors of the Noyrit were found by Captain T'Pol and Lieutenant Commander Hoshi Sato of the Federation starship USS Endeavour, who had allowed themselves to be abducted to learn more about the Vertians and seek a diplomatic solution. T'Pol and Sato devised a means of communication by displaying emotion through body temperature regulation. Kadlin hated the Vertians for they inflicted but went along with T'Pol's plan. On April 13, Endeavour arrived at Gamma Vertis IV and the Vertians agreed to release their victims and negotiate a peace agreement. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)
