In the 22nd century, this location was considered part of the Triangle sector, situated at the borders of the expanding Coalition of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire. The Nu Chalcedonis system's orbit was the site of the Battle of Nu Chalcedonis during the Earth-Romulan War, on reference stardate 1/0712.25. Starfleet's 12th Strike Wing, with three full starship squadrons, came upon a Romulan-crewed convoy in a disorganized state near an allied rendezvous point.
