The Nuaran Imperium was the government and state of the Nuarans, located somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History[]

The Federation’s first known contact with the Nuarans occurred June 4, 2298. The Imperium attempted to conquer Beta Li’odo, which, unknown to the Nuarans, had just signed a treaty with the Federation. The Starfleet cruiser USS Polaris, which had just departed from Beta Li’odo, answered the Li’odan distress call and engaged the invading fleet in a short but decisive battle, during which the Polaris disabled one Nuaran ship.

The Imperium also was active in the Thiopan system developing a trade agreement with the corrupt government. In exchange for ores and slaves, the Nuarans gave the Thiopans technology. However, decades of environmental abuse and neglect damaged the planet, forcing even the closed minded government on Thiopa to cut ties with their one time trade partners.

In 2365 The Nuarans were still active in the sector. Several Nuaran interceptors were encountered by the USS Enterprise-D on a humanitarian mission delivering relief supplies to Thiopa.

In addition the Imperium was selling weapons to the Sojourners to aid in their terrorist attacks against Sovereign Protector Ruer Stross and his regime.

Politics[]

The Imperium was a military dictatorship with absolute control over four star systems, which include a total of seven inhabited planets. (TNG novel: Power Hungry)
