Nyota Uhuras[]

Alternate timelines and realities[]

A Less Perfect Union[]

In another alternate timeline in which John Frederick Paxton destroyed Starfleet Command and ended the talks for the Coalition of Planets in 2155, Uhura was an agent of Starfleet Intelligence during the 2260s.

In 2264, using the pseudonym "Penda," she was assigned as the beta shift communications officer aboard the UESS Enterprise during its mission to escort Lady T'Pol and Ambassadors Nancy Hedford and Garrett Tarses to Babel so that they could petition for United Earth's admission into the Interstellar Coalition.

She was forced to reveal her identity when the Vulcan V'Shar agent Subcommander T'Pring transmitted Babel's security codes to the Enterprise so that they could transport herself and the injured Captain Pike aboard. (TOS - Myriad Universes novel: A Less Perfect Union)

Benny Russell[]

In stories by Benny Russell, Uhura was a character created by Russell. (DS9 short story: "The Dreamer and the Dream")

British Empire[]

HMS Enterprise

Uhura's ship, the HMS Enterprise.

In an alternate timeline without the Federation and where Human women held slaves, Captain Nyota Uhura served as commanding officer of the Constitution-class heavy cruiser HMS Enterprise in the 2260s decade. At some point before stardate 4295.2, Uhura had her lover James T. Kirk skinned alive. On stardate 4295.2, in the year 2267, Captain Spock of the ISS Enterprise ensured that his rival, former captain James T. Kirk would not return to the mirror universe in the escape from the primary universe. Kirk ended up beaming himself onto the HMS Enterprise. When Kirk was escorted to the bridge, Uhura was surprised to see Kirk alive, and wondered how many women would get to see their lover skinned alive twice. (TOS - New Visions comic: "The Mirror, Cracked")

Future Tense[]

Early Voyages alternate timeline

The crew of the USS Enterprise-A in an alternate timeline

In an alternate timeline created when Yeoman J. Mia Colt was sent forward in time from 2254 to 2293 after her tricorder scans released the tachyon energy contained in an Algolian artifact known as a Keepsake, Uhura served as the communications officer of the Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike until it was decommissioned. She continued to serve in that position aboard the USS Enterprise-A.

She was killed when Pike activated the Enterprise-A's self-destruct sequence in orbit of Algol II in 2293 after it had been severely damaged by a Klingon bird-of-prey commanded by General Chang and three Klingon battle cruisers. As the Enterprise was destroyed, Colt entered the Well of Tomorrows on Algol II and was returned to 2254, thereby restoring the proper timeline. (EV comics: "Future Tense", "Futures", "Now and Then")
