Oavid was a 23rd century Moauvian man. He served as Moauv's ambassador to the Federation in the 2260s decade.

Biography[]

In the late 2260s, Oavid was his world's leading representative as his government considered whether to ally with the Federation or Klingon Empire.

In the year 2269, his pet waul Ewass was being transported to him from Centaurus Base by the starship USS Enterprise. Unfortunately, it escaped and telepathically projected its feelings of panic and fear to anyone nearby that was trying to capture it. Over subspace communications, Oavid denied Kirk's allegation that the situation was a premeditated means of testing his crew for diplomatic purposes. Oavid advised tranquilizing the pet, naming a couple of drugs that would work, but Doctor Leonard McCoy was unfamiliar with Moauvian pharmaceuticals.

Later, Oavid was relieved to hear that the pet was recovered by Lieutenant Shiboline M'Ress, whose Caitian biology was impervious to the waul's panic. He acknowledged the benefits of Starfleet having a diverse crew, perhaps signaling a diplomatic victory for the Federation. (TOS audiobook: Passage to Moauv)
