An observatory on Nraka.

An observatory was a structure in which astronomical objects were studied.

History and specifics[]

500,000 years ago, Sanoora scientists using a telescope in an observatory on Nraka discovered that a rogue star would pass close enough to their planet in 340 years to cause an extinction-level crisis. Given that much advance warning, they were able to take steps to ensure the survival of their species. (TOS comic: "The Evictors")

On Kujal, the Kujalans learned the cause of their shrinking by observing their sun through a telescope in their observatory. (TOS comic: "Dwarf Planet")

In 2266, James T. Kirk and Spock hid from a Klingon occupation army on Fornia at a space observatory supervised by Professor Markan. Spock was able to use its radio telescope to analyze and develop a strategy to disable Tharrk's battle cruiser in orbit and liberate Fornia. (TOS comic: "Smoke and Mirrors")

Regula I space laboratory's four extension modules consisted of a space observatory, two living modules, and a biolab. (Adventures RPG module: The Sciences Division)
