Ohalu was a male Bajoran who lived in approximately 30000 BC. Ohalu was contacted by the Prophets, but was considered a madman and a heretic by the Bajoran religion authorities for he claimed the Prophets were not gods, but a benevolent alien race; teachers who had a symbiotic relationship with the Bajorans, learning as much from them as the Bajorans did from the Prophets.

As proof for this beliefs Ohalu wrote a set of prophecies, which foretold events from throughout what would become Bajoran history, up until the birth of the "Infant Avatar", who he believed would herald in a new age of awareness and understanding for the Bajoran people.

Ohalu was able to convince a small group if his beliefs and after his death this group, the Ohalavaru, protected his prophecies. It took thirty-two millennia, but eventually all of Ohalu's prophecies were fulfilled. (DS9 novel: Avatar)

In 2380, Rebecca Jae Sisko was kidnapped by a mentally unstable Ohalu follower. Jasmine Tey was instrumental in the rescue of Rebecca. (ST - Typhon Pact novels: Plagues of Night, Raise the Dawn, ST - The Fall novel: Revelation and Dust)
