An oil is a type of matter, a complex molecule that exists in a liquid state at ambient room temperatures. Oils typically repel water in solution, but react with more complex hydrocarbons. Oils are derived from the processes of lifeforms, and generally are useful in the release of energy from consumption or reaction of the material, for heat, warmth or technology power.
