Okeanos was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the fifth planet in orbit of Joan-Marie's Star. It was a class M water planet with less than 3% land mass. It was nearly as hot as Vulcan, and equally bombarded with ultraviolet radiation. Its dense crust contained a high proportion of heavy metals, resulting in high levels of background radiation. Humans could not survive long on the surface without drugs or shielded environments.
History and specifics[]
In the year 2092, the UES Hernando de Soto of the First General Survey discovered the planet Okeanos. It was later settled by colonists from Earth who called themselves Variants and named the planet Discord. Afterwards, it was settled by the Susuru, who were initially unaware of the Earth colony.
In 2270, the USS Enterprise was sent to Okeanos to settle a dispute between the Susuru and the Variants. The mission was successful, but not without the interference of Commander Kain and the new Klingon dreadnought, the IKS Leviathan. (TOS novel: From the Depths)
