The Onctiliians were a non-humanoid species native to the planet Onctiliis in either the Alpha or Beta Quadrants. By the 23rd century, not much was known about them.

History and specifics[]

Physically they were roughly spherical in shape, perhaps a meter in diameter, with a color somewhere between pink and brown. They were actually four separate beings bonded for life, with four different personalities residing in one, and are roughly four times as strong as a single Onctiliian. The four can pool their intelligence to a degree when necessary, and would react with utmost speed and violence to any they feel would cause harm to their physical integrity. The bonding is irreversible for them, and if one dies, all of them die. A group attacks any threat ferociously, but also very intelligently, hoping to disarm and destroy the threat before the Onctiliian itself comes to harm. The species was known for a tetrasexual method of reproduction. (TOS novel: The Trellisane Confrontation)
