General Onoth was a 23rd century Sarsith, leader of the elite Brotherhood of Waters military faction on Sarsithia.

Biography[]

During the Sarsith rebellion against the Mirmonot, Onoth served on the Sarsith Ruling Council, but believed it had since lost its focus and become indecisive. After ousting the Mirmonot, Onoth became frustrated as his people similarly lost focus after 450 years of war, squabbling over food scraps. He felt only the strong should survive.

In 2274, Onoth interrupted the Council's meeting with Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock of the starship USS Enterprise with news that Doctor Christine Chapel had been injured in an aircar crash. He brought the officers to his personal physician Tath at Isoth Fortress's hospital, telling Tath privately that it would suit his purposes if Chapel remained out of commission. A scavenging force broke into the fortress, but were frightened by the sight of Onoth, who shot them before they could surrender. Onoth resolved not to have his Brotherhood descend to that level, nor for Sarsithia to become dependent on Federation handouts.

LA10-Battle-fleet

Onath's warship fleet.

Looking to refocus his people with a new war, he ordered a Sarsith fighter to shoot at a patrolling K't'inga-class Klingon battlecruiser. When that didn't work, he joined seven Sarsith warships in an assault on the cruiser. Kirk demanded he cease fire, however, as an amnesiac Chapel entered the area in a Sarsith transport. Onath then ordered his ships to shoot at the Enterprise. The battlecruiser destroyed Onoth's flagship with photon torpedoes, ending the battle and Onoth's life. (TOS comic: "Quarantine")
