An Ooruni was a large bear-like animal species native to the Klingon homeworld.
History and specifics[]
Ooruni were ferocious and undomesticated with thick, black-colored fur. Each paw had six sharp talons, and its mouth had three rows of jagged teeth.
According to Klingon history as learned by merchant Cyrano Jones in the 23rd century, ooruni was the traditional game of Klingon hunters in ancient times. Ooruni fur was used to make the Klingon Emperor's cape. Its meat was cooked smoked or dried for main meals, and also used in cuisines such as ooruni kapiki and kiros kai faki. In modern times, ooruni were hunted as an endurance test by young soldiers hoping to become members of the Klingon Imperial Guard, and then served at a large feast.
