Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Ophiucans were a developing humanoid civilization native to the planet Ophiucus VII in the Ophiucus system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

Biology and culture[]

Ophiucan knees bent in the opposite direction to those of most humans. Rather than hair, Ophiucans sported feathers. Society was fractured and sometimes hostile.

History[]

In the 22nd century, Ophiucans were at a feudal state of development. Their culture was contaminated when the commercial scout Muddlin' Through crashed on their world. Survivors gave them advanced technology from the wreck and warned of aggressive galactic races like the Klingons.

By the 2260s decade, Ophiucans constructed a number of chemically-powered spacecraft and formed a rudimentary defensive space force of at least seven vessels. They had television and were close to developing nuclear power, with the accompanying potential of being able to engage in nuclear war. One world leader was Emperor Glendishah.

In the late 2260s, a starship orbited the planet and made contact with the Ophiucans. (TOS board game: The Adventure Game)

Gameplay offered various outcomes. If the starship was from Starfleet, contact might lead to a world unification effort and allying with the Federation. If the starship was from the Klingon Defense Force, some tactics led to bringing the planet into a neutral or pro-Klingon status.
In one permutation of gameplay, Ophiucans used their fleet of spacecraft to engage in piracy.
