The ore processing center was a location on Terok Nor where uridium ore was processed by Bajoran slave workers. (DS9 episode: "Civil Defense")

Ore processing was left unused after the Cardassian withdrawal. In 2371, Miles O'Brien began to investigate turning the centers into deuterium refineries. During one such investigation, he and Jake Sisko accidentally triggered the Counter-insurgency program left behind by the Cardassians. (DS9 episode: "Civil Defense")
