The Orinoco River was a river on the planet Earth, located on the continent of South America. At 2,140 kilometers (1,330 miles) the Orinoco was one of the longest rivers in South America, and flowed through the nation states of Colombia and Venezuela.
In the 2370s decade, the Federation Starfleet named the runabout USS Orinoco after the Earth river Orinoco. (DS9 episode: "The Siege")
