One of the races of the Orion people was a reptilian species.
They had gray skin and yellow eyes, and males had an impressive stature. They spoke with a guttural, sibilant accent and might wear flat headgear. (TNG novel: Survivors)
They were likely one of the muni, an Orion minority comprising rare Orion subraces, alien races absorbed into their culture, and lone immigrants. Muni were a visible and accepted component of Orion society. (FASA RPG modules: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge, The Orions: Book of Deep Knowledge)
Circa 2358, Cadet Tasha Yar undertook the Priam IV test at Starfleet Academy, where she discovered a reptilian Orion slaver character capturing primitive Priamites. He turned out to be played by her mentor Darryl Adin, however, wearing a mask. (TNG novel: Survivors)
- This version of the Orion race is different from the typical depiction of an Orion male, though it may be intended to represent the miscolored Orions seen in the TAS episode: "The Pirates of Orion". Sickly Grey Orions have also been given, though no other source corroborates a reptilian nature. Therefore, these Orions may be one of the muni. However, as this description has so far only appeared in a holodeck simulation, they might not necessarily be a "real" species.
