An Orion firepot was a cooking device used in Orion culture, and could be used to boil Orion wing-slugs.
Made of iron or some alloy, it was of an ornate design and embossed with crudely erotic scenes of Orion mythology. Its hourglass-shaped lower cylinder was packed with hot coals, which provided the heat needed to cook foods in bowls placed on a metal framework in or over the firepot. These could be placed in such a way that they cooked at different rates in a staggered schedule. (DS9 novel: Wrath of the Prophets)
