Orion cooking is known for its hot spices, which are said to induce tears. (TNG novel: Behind Enemy Lines) Some spices are aphrodisiacs, or are classed as illegal drugs.

It is possible that the following references all relate to the same spice, or are related to demma or mandisa.

Xiqai is an aphrodisiac spice. (DS9 novel: Bajor: Fragments and Omens)

There is a drug-spice trade out of Orion. (TOS novel: The Galactic Whirlpool)

Illegally traded spices can be obtained through the black market from the Orions. They go well with chicken. (TOS novel: The Great Starship Race)
