Orpheus was an R1 Informant-class Starfleet space station outpost which was placed in the Makus system, opposing the Klingon shipyards during a conflict in the year 2270. Orpheus was complemented by Shipyard 357 and a set of sensors.
History and specifics[]
Monitoring enemy comm traffic in the region, Orpheus confirmed that the a prototype Klingon bird-of-prey was located in the system. In anticipation of the mission, Orpheus transmitted a jamming signal which impaired Klingon communications. In addition, their commander alerted Captain James T. Kirk to a series of Klingon outposts in orbit of Makus' planets. Fighting their way to the Makus shipyards, a Starfleet task force led by the USS Enterprise found and disabled the impulse drive of the prototype, a B'rel-class bird-of-prey, which was then captured by a tractor beam. With multiple enemy ships converging on their position, the Starfleet task force found themselves severely outnumbered and were forced into a fighting retreat.
