Lieutenant Osik was an alien communications officer assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 2270s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
Biography[]
In 2274, Osik replaced Nyota Uhura on bridge duty while she joined a landing party to investigate Iskonia. The team was gassed by robots, and Kirk passed out while trying to hail the Enterprise. Osik believed he'd detected a communicator signal, but when he couldn't resolve it he decided it must have been subspace interference. When the landing party awoke, their communicators had been taken. Eventually, Uhura was able to rig a transmitter and contact Osik. (TOS comic: "Restructuring Is Futile")
- Osik's species went unnamed in the story, but resembled Sarsith.
