Oskaloosa log was a type of walnut cheese spread made by the Kirk family that Captain James T. Kirk enjoyed in the 23rd century.

History and specifics[]

Oskaloosa log was created by a young Peter Kirk and his grandmother Winona Kirk, which they named after the city where they got the ingredients, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Peter hoped to make something his grandfather George Samuel Kirk, Sr. would like, and with his grandmother they fashioned a recipe with cream cheese, onions, parsley, mayonnaise, and walnuts.

In the 2260s decade, Captain Kirk shared the recipe with Nurse Christine Chapel, who adapted it for the USS Enterprise's food processors. (TOS reference: Official Cooking Manual)
