Beck's wife

Othello Beck's wife was an unnamed middle-aged Vulcan woman married to Doctor Othello Beck in the 23rd century.

She had shoulder-length white hair and blue-green eyes.

History[]

In the 2240s or early 2250s, she contracted Logan's disease. Beck became obsessed with curing her. He was arrested for purchasing Vulcan genetic samples in 2252 in order to test an experimental treatment, which didn't help her. He spent 12 years locating a reputed genetic engineering laboratory on The Strand after hearing about it on Bajor and then bringing her there. As part of his research, Beck created a variety of genetic hybrids called B'Nai. He spent the next five years there continuing to find a cure while his wife suffered, residing in a medical treatment lab.

In 2269, James T. Kirk discovered her while investigating Beck. She appeared to be completely incapacitated physically, but mentally alert. She begged him to kill her. When Una discovered her, she and the B'Nai rebelled against Beck, and he destroyed them all before committing suicide. (TOS - Year Four comic: "Issue 1")

The fate of Beck's wife was not spelled out, but statements by Kirk and Leonard McCoy at the end of the story implied that she had passed.
