An Overlord Fleet of from the and en route to capture .

An Overlord Fleet of battlecraft from the Dominion and Cardassian Union en route to capture Deep Space 9.

An Overlord Fleet was a naval fleet formation utilized to serve combat situations that were seen as crucial to the Dominion throughout the course of their existence. Assembled from thousands of Jem'Hadar fighters and hundreds of additional battleships incorporated into the overall force, an Overlord Fleet was often fielded to fight enemies of the Dominion when the Great Link believed that the current battle was essential to their interstellar empire or if the volatile situation required overwhelming forces to suppress serious degrees of local resistance from hostile forces. Through these armadas were proven to be efficient with eliminating their targets, even when commanded through a signal flagship, the fleets often struggled to maintain a cohesive structure when confronted with the heat of battle. However, while the core forces inside Overlord Fleets were manufactured from designs that were first created to account for situations inside the Gamma Quadrant, the alliances that the Founders made with external powers like the Cardassian Union and the Breen Confederacy saw spacecraft from these entities fighting alongside those belonging to the Jem'Hadar. One such example was the assault force dispatched to capture Deep Space 9 during the initial outbreak of the war between the Dominion and the Federation Alliance, which combined the Overlord Fleet with auxiliaries taken from the Cardassian Guard. Under the direction of Gul Skrain Dukat - the supreme leader of Cardassia Prime - this force was able to rout Starfleet and expel them from the Bajor sector, enabling them to bring the space station that was rechristened Terok Nor under occupation.
