The P-51 Mustang was a single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber aircraft used by the United States of America and a number of its allies during the mid-20th century. This airplane saw combat action in World War II and the Korean War.
The designs for the P-51 Mustang were present in the databanks on the USS Verdun. In the year 2163, Commodore Lucian Murat had downloaded the schematics that were used by the Human forces on Torgu-Va to make this airplane. By 2367, the Humans had several P-51 Mustangs, but they were limited in number. Lysander Murat planned to use a Mustang to disperse refined uranium over the Tarn outposts. The Tarn believed that the aircraft was named after some ancient warrior god. (TNG novel: The Forgotten War)
