The PK Alpha was an Undine bioship, a planet killer in service from the 2400s decade. The Alpha was one of three planet killers dispatched to the Undine Battlezone to turn the tide of battle. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Fluidic Destruction")

The Voth Zone.
In 2409, the Undine invaded the Solanae Dyson Sphere in the Delta Quadrant and attacked the Voth in the Voth Zone. Defeating the Voth, the Undine took control of the area, which the Allied forces then renamed Undine Battlezone. The Allied forces pushed into the area to wrestle control from the Undine, and were successful.
When Allied forces seized control of all Federation, Klingon and Romulan points in this zone, the Undine revealed a trio of planet killers. Their locations were marked by Vice Admiral Chal Rexx on a tactical map. Rexx coordinated the Allied attack on the planet killers from his ship, the USS Cheron, leading to the defeat of the PK Alpha, PK Beta and PK Delta, forcing the Undine to retreat from the zone temporarily.
