Paint is a substance composed of solid coloring matter suspended in a liquid medium and applied as a protective or decorative coating to various surfaces, or to canvas or other materials in producing a work of art.

Fabian Stevens once jokingly referred to a type of paint devised to protect technological devices from the power-dampening effects of farantine as "The Magical Paint of Doom," even though it was not magical, did not cause doom, and clearly was not intended as an actual proper name. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)

Thermocoat was a type of paint that was applied to the hulls of Starfleet vessels in the mid 23rd century. (TOS reference: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise)
