Pangea was a high-gravity planet and site of a human colony.

History and specifics[]

As of 2380, Pangea was an independent member world of the Federation. Because of its gravity, Pangeans tend to be shorter than most humans. (TNG novel: A Time for War, A Time for Peace; ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

Also because of its gravity, cities on Pangea are built outward, and can sprawl across thousands of kilometers. Rain on Pangea is considered painful and potentially dangerous. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)

During the Dominion War, Pangea was one of the Federation worlds attacked by Dominion forces; however, the planet was able to withstand this assault due to the planetary defenses established and coordinated by Raisa Shostakova. This accomplishment led to her position as Federation Secretary of Defense under President Nanietta Bacco. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

Pangea was served by the Pangea News Service. Reporter Maria Olifante covered news from the Palais de la Concorde for the Pangea News Service from at least 2379. (TNG novel: A Time for War, A Time for Peace)
