The Parada (or Paradans) were a humanoid species from the planet Parada IV, located in the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 episode: "Whispers", ST video game: Star Trek Online)
History[]
From the late 2350s to at least the early 2370s, the race was engaged in a civil war. In 2370, Deep Space 9 was to host peace talks and Miles O'Brien met with them in the Gamma Quadrant to discuss their security concerns. While there, O'Brien was kidnapped by the government and replaced with a replicant who was sent back to Deep Space 9 in his place. One of the Parada rebels' informants in the government leaked this information and the crew kept a close eye on the fake O'Brien, although they were unable to discover if he was real or not. It was believed that during the peace talks, the replicant would attempt to kill the rebel delegation. (DS9 episode: "Whispers")
From 2371 onwards, the Parada were a common sight on Deep Space 9, mostly on the Promenade. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
In 2372, a Parada was one of several delegates taking part in the Antwerp Conference. This individual was killed in the Dominion bombing. (DS9 episode: "Homefront")
Sometime between the replicant incident and 2376, the crew of the Even Odds had dealings with the Parada, gaining information about the Alpha Quadrant from them. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)
In 2409 the Federation made improvements to their consulate on Parada IV, and soon afterwards Parada military personnel began serving in Starfleet as part of an exchange program between the two governments. (STO duty officer assignment: "Consular Authority: Parada")
First splinter timeline[]
In 2383, Typhon Pact starships were traveling near Parada space. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night)
