The Parliament of the Confederated Martian Colonies, originally known as the Assembly of the Confederated Martian Colonies, is the Martian legislature. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing, ST - Section 31 novel: Control)

The Assembly was founded following the Fundamental Declarations of the Martian Colonies and continued to function into the mid-2150s. The Assembly was described as not being a dictatorship and was linked closely with the tribal groups which had settled on Mars such as the Martian Hopi-Pueblo nation. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

Beneath the Raptor's Wing also refers to an institution known as the Governing Council. The nature of its relationship to the Assembly is unexplained; they may be separate institutions or they may be the same institution.

In 2155, the Assembly was involved in the Coalition Compact crisis that involved the aggressive actions of the Romulan Star Empire. (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

By 2161, the Assembly had become known as the Martian Parliament. In 2161, the Parliament debated whether or not to apply for membership in the newly-formed United Federation of Planets. The vote was extremely close, and opposition to membership was led by a senior Member of the Martian Parliament named Maria Caycedo. Caycedo died from exposure to peanut dust prior to the vote being cast; her successor cast the deciding vote for membership. (ST - Section 31 novel: Control) The Confederated Martian Colonies became the first new Federation Member State after its founders that year. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)

In 2386, it was revealed that MMP Caycedo's death had been arranged by the rogue super artificial intelligence known as Uraei. (ST - Section 31 novel: Control)
