In 2376, she was in negotiations with fellow business leader Rod Portlyn to become partners in a planet-wide resort on planet Rando III. She re-encountered Gold during this time, while the Starfleet Corps of Engineers was aiding Portlyn in his development of Vemlar. Shortly after, Gold shared with Bennett recent discoveries of Portlyn's unethical business practices. In early 2377, Bennett visited a Starfleet project her corporation was supplying, and was reunited with David Gold. During this meeting, she propositioned Gold, who happened to observing his wedding anniversary. After Gold rejected her advances, she immediately returned to Tau Ophiucus. There, she was accosted by Rod Portlyn, who was then in possession of a powerful piece of ancient alien technology he'd dubbed "the Zapper." With this device, Portlyn transported Bennett to an alternate dimension, where she was kept in a dreamlike state of suspension for several days. Portlyn also forged a suicide note from Bennett, and though no body was found, Bennett was presumed dead. Captain Montgomery Scott managed to reverse the effect of the "Zapper," returning Bennett to regular space. After apologizing to Gold for her earlier inappropriate proposal, she inquired as to whether Scotty was romantically available. (CoE eBook: The Art of the Comeback)
