Patrick Stewart is an English actor who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was born on July 13, 1940. His acting career has been predominantly in Shakespeare productions, both on stage and screen, though his roles have extended far and outside of Star Trek he is probably best known in recent years for playing Charles Xavier in the X-Men films.

Stewart played Picard in every episode of TNG and all four movies, as well as appearing in the Deep Space Nine pilot episode Emissary. He has also voiced Picard in several computer games and directed episodes of TNG.
