The Patronus-class was a type of starship operated by the Romulan Star Empire as a support frigate in the 2250s[1] of the Kelvin timeline.
Overview[]
The class was foreword heavy, with the bulk of the craft in a segment towards the front of the design. On either side were two sets of protruding elements, the lower of which ran the length of the ship, the upper was somewhat shorter at the aft. The center of the front of the ships featured numerous additional, but smaller, protrusions. As a support frigate the Patronus-class did not as standard feature an offensive systems, but was instead fitting with a support beam which could be used to transfer energy and shield power to nearby allied ships. The beam could also be configured to destroy asteroids and small targets such as escape pods.
Like its contemporaries, the Centurion-class, Cetratus-class, Gladius-class, and Securis-class, the Patronus-class could, in addition to its standard systems, be armed with the repulsion charge and holo-mines, and could be equipped with a cloaking device and energy flux. Also in common with other classes, the Cetratus-class had at least one escape pod[2].
