In the 2260s, Lieutenant Commander Norton was assigned to the USS Endeavour as a beta shift bridge officer. Although he commanded the beta shift and was qualified to serve as executive officer by Captain Khatami, she thought him to be prickly and overly officious. (VAN novel: Summon the Thunder)
Norton was still serving aboard the Endeavour in 2268 when the Constitution-class starship defended starbase Vanguard from attack by a Tholian armada. (VAN novel: Storming Heaven)
In the 2270s, Norton was a crewmember serving aboard the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. When the Enterprise staged a raid against a Romulan space station in orbit of Levaeri V, Norton was one of the hundred-odd crewpeople chosen to participate. (TOS novel: My Enemy, My Ally)
