"Pen Pals" was the 41st episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the 15th episode of the show's second season, first aired during the week of 1 May 1989. The episode was written by Melinda M. Snodgrass and Hannah Louise Shearer and directed by Winrich Kolbe.
