The Persephone system was a star with an associated system located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant.

History and specifics[]

It was positioned on the edge of Federation space. (TOS novel: Pawns and Symbols)

The Persephone system's orbit was the location of eight planets. In 2259, when the USS Enterprise surveyed the system, it encountered the M'hanit comet and a Shepherd ship near third planet Persephone III. (SNW episode: "Children of the Comet")

In 2273, a sabotaged Romulan ship was destroyed near the system. Two survivors landed on second planet Persephone II aboard a shuttle. (TOS novel: Pawns and Symbols)

In the 24th century, its fifth planet Persephone V was a Federation member world. (ST reference: Star Charts)

In 2376, the Genesis Wave traveled through the system, exterminating all pre-existing life on Persephone V. One million refugees were evacuated to Starbase 393. (TNG - The Genesis Wave novel: Book 1)

It is possible, but not certain, that the events of Genesis Wave were isolated as part of the First Splinter timeline and that the system remains intact in the primary universe.
