The Petraw were a space-faring humanoid race.
History[]
At some point, the Petraw came in possession of information regarding the Iconian gateways, including how to turn on the entire network. Although they lacked complete technical information, they went from galactic power to galactic power, hoping to sell the gateways themselves to the highest bidder. The Petraw were exposed when efforts by the USS Defiant temporarily disrupted the network, when they began to scan as intently as their Orion Syndicate customers. The Petraw can speak subvocally.
Their birthing world is located at least 40,000 light-years from Federation space, near the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, in the spiral arm at the base of the Beta Quadrant. (TOS novel: One Giant Leap)
