Phaeton was a planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was the homeworld of the interstellar non-corporeal Phaetonian civilization.

History and specifics[]

Phaeton orbited an M class red star. It was located not far from Deep Space Station K-12.

In 2274, insane Phaetonians intended to crash the Federation starship USS Icarus into their homeworld, but diverted at the last moment. The USS Enterprise had placed itself in a position to prevent the catastrophic event by ramming Icarus, destroying both ships to save the planet's inhabitants. (TOS comic: "Eclipse of Reason")
