For the primary universe counterpart, see Philippa Georgiou.
"The Federation. I know it well from the Defiant's files. There's a reason they're classified. Equality. Freedom. Co-operation. Cornerstones for successful cultures. Delusions that Terrans shed millennia ago. Destructive ideals that fuel rebellions and I will not let you infect us again."
Georgiou to Michael Burnham, 2256[src]

Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius was the Terran Empress of the Terran Empire in the 2250s. (DSC episodes: "The Wolf Inside", "Vaulting Ambition")

Philippa Georgiou reared Michael Burnham from childhood, following the death of Burnham's parents. Burnham would refer to Georgiou as mother but later began attempting to outsmart the Emperor of the Terran Empire. Gabriel Lorca was like a father to Burnham, but their relationship evolved into that of lovers. Before long, the pair plotted to overthrow Georgiou. (DSC episode: "Vaulting Ambition"; DSC - Succession comic: "Issue 1")

The Emperor, learning of Lorca's betrayal, sent Captain Burnham after Lorca, who by then was in command of the ISS Buran. Both Lorca and Burnham ended up missing, presumed dead, and the ISS Buran was destroyed. (DSC episode: "The Wolf Inside")

Georgiou faced her former adopted family-turned-traitors when Michael Burnham of the primary universe stranded in the mirror universe, and traveled to meet Georgiou on the ISS Charon. Burnham pretended to be her counterpart until Georgiou was about to execute her. In a subsequent negotiation to have the emperor assist Burnham's ship, the USS Discovery, to return to its native universe, both women realized that Burnham's Lorca was indeed the escaped traitor from the mirror universe.
