In the mirror universe, Phlox was a male Denobulan doctor serving aboard the ISS Enterprise (NX-01) during the mid 22nd century.
Biography[]
Early career[]
Sometime before the year 2151, Phlox traveled to Earth in order to experiment with "holistic" (i.e. theoretically unsound) treatments on other species. In 2151, Phlox applied various sedatives to a Klingon warrior who had crash landed on Earth and was being tortured for information by the Terran security and intelligence bureaus. Under the influence of Phlox's sedatives, the Klingon warrior gave up information about the Klingon Empire and its location. (Decipher RPG module: Through a Glass, Darkly)
Enterprise[]
By January 2155, Phlox was serving aboard the ISS Enterprise and, along with Major Malcolm Reed, designed a prototype for an "agony booth".
When Captain Jonathan Archer plotted to overthrow the Emperor of the Terran Empire, T'Pol and Soval convinced Phlox to oppose him, in part by suggesting a grateful emperor would grant him concubines. However, Commander Charles Tucker discovered Phlox's sabotage to the USS Defiant, and the doctor was arrested. (ENT episode: "In a Mirror, Darkly")
Phlox was released from the Defiant brig by the Vulcan rebel Staal, though he refused to join him and T'Pol for fear that the Empire would target his family for his treasonous acts. When later recaptured by Empress Hoshi Sato, he claimed to have been drugged by T'Pol to secure his cooperation, a claim born out by blood tests. Though it was suggested that Phlox could have self-administered the drugs afterward, Sato gave him the benefit of the doubt, and appointed him as her personal physician.
Following the execution of Doctor Arik Soong, Phlox also assumed responsibility for the fetus Soong had created from the DNA of Sato and Thy'lek Shran. In addition, he undertook an effort to revive the deceased Jonathan Archer. (ENT - Mirror Universe novel: Age of the Empress)
In 2165, Tucker betrayed Empress Sato and turned the prefix code of the Constitution-class ISS Nobunaga over to the rebels as led by the resurrected Archer. After Tucker was captured, Phlox tortured him on the Empress' orders in an attempt to make him divulge the prefix code. (ENT - Mirror Universe short story: "Nobunaga")
