Piniella was a 23rd century Human woman from Barcelona, Spain on Earth. By the mid-2250s, Piniella served as an operations division security crewperson aboard the USS Farragut. Amongst the Farragut's crew, she was well known for her hearty laugh and love of strong liqueurs.
Piniella was one of two hundred crewmen who were killed aboard the Farragut in 2257 following an attack from the dikironium cloud creature. Lieutenant James T. Kirk discovered her lifeless body lying in a corridor and drew down her eyelids before trying to make his way to the bridge. (TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution)
- Piniella may have been named for veteran baseball player and manager Lou Piniella.
