Plasma beam array

A plasma beam array in 2409-2411.

A plasma beam array was a weapon technology, a directed energy weapons emitter on installed on starships and spaceborne-installations like starbases and other space stations. Such a beam array fired plasma energy at a target, dealing an average amount of damage. As a beam array, it had a 250° firing arc. Compared to other energy weapon types, plasma space weapons had a chance of hitting a target with temporarily lasting plasma that could damage a ship's hull over time. Plasma beam banks usually fired cyan beams. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")

History and specifics[]

In the 2400s decade, plasma weapons were the standard energy weapon types aboard warbirds of the Romulan Republic, Romulan Star Empire, Reman Resistance and the Tal Shiar. Plasma weapons fired cyan-colored beams with rough edges and were available with different ratings of advancement, ranging from mark I to mark XV, plus unrated variants. These beam arrays could be modified by personnel to improve accuracy, critical severity, critical chance and damage output. Aboard starships, plasma beam arrays could be slotted in fore and aft emplacements. The variant plasma dual beam bank could only be placed in either fore slot, however. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")

By the 29th century, antiproton beams were the standard weapons for Romulan starships, including their mirror universe counterparts. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "Explore the Flotilla")
