It was located in the central Orion Arm of the galaxy. The cluster featured a number of young blue supergiant stars. It spectacularly filled half the night sky of the plant Kartikeya. (TLE novel: The Buried Age)
Starbase 47 was 315.7 light years away from the cluster. (VAN novel: Storming Heaven)
In 2364 the USS Enterprise was on a mapping mission of the cluster before being diverted to Velara III. (TNG episode: "Home Soil")
