A polaron torpedo was a weapon introduced into the inventory of the Vor'cha-class attack cruisers of the Klingon Defense Force shortly after the Dominion War.

History and specifications[]

Introduced after the Dominion War following a lengthy analysis of captured Jem'Hadar weapons and ships by the IKDF, the polaron torpedo is essentially a standard Klingon photon torpedo with a unique modification: installing a small polaron field generator inside the torpedo casing. Activated upon launch, the generator would encompass the torpedo in a polaron field that frequently changed modulation, the field's constant state of flux allowing the torpedo to either pierce or completely bypass the intended target's shields and damaging vital systems such as engines, weapons or life support. This added a further advantage to captains who would then take down the wounded enemy warship. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)
