Summary[]
Lieutenant Saavik struggles against the throes of pon farr when she receives a reminder from Lieutenant Commander Uhura to report to the transporter room. After snapping at her superior officer, Saavik leaves as the USS Enterprise arrives at the Regula I space station.

- The Enterprise, on its way to rendezvous with the USS Grissom, has slowed to sublight speed to pick up a very important passenger: Doctor David Marcus, my son.
- Captain's log, stardate 8185.3
- In pursuit of Lt. Saavik, we are approaching the energy barrier that surrounds our galaxy. Our previous encounters have proven it to be extremely dangerous... What Saavik is doing here-- what this has to do with Xon-- are questions as yet unanswered.
