Pontalimus was the leader of the Teuthis, a species native to an extra-dimensional realm. In 2279, Pontalimus used catspaws from Priatia in an attempt to incite a civil war within the New Thallonian Protectorate as part of their on-going conflict with the Bolgar.
Captain Mackenzie Calhoun of the USS Excalibur arranged for a "negotiation" between Pontalimus and a Bolgar captain named Termic, by locking them both with him in a sealed shuttle bay, and making them believe that they had contracted a virulent disease, promising the antidote only unless they cooperated. Pontalimus was killed over the world of Priatia, locked in mortal combat with Termic as they burned up in re-entry of Priatia's atmosphere. (NF novel: Missing in Action)
